Revs host Houston in battle of downtrodden clubs
Soccer Betting Lines
08/13/2010 -
Foxborough, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Two Major League Soccer clubs that normally
are in the thick of the title race square off on Saturday at Gillette Stadium
in desperate need of points.
The Houston Dynamo are winless since May 22 and sit second-from-the-bottom in
the Western Conference table, while the New England Revolution sit third-from-
the-bottom in the East.
The Dynamo are coming off an embarrassing effort in a 2-0 loss at Seattle
Sounders FC this past weekend.
"After we conceded the goal, it didn't seem like we had that go to try and get
it back, and that really frustrates us," Houston defender Andrew Hainault told
mlssoccer.com. "You have to learn from it, get past it, and you have to look
at the next game."
The Dynamo (5-9-5) have been struggling all season, and with the season almost
two-thirds over, time is running short to get things turned around.
"Games are running out for us to pick up points," Hainault said. "We can't
worry too much or be nervous about it. We have to stick together and put our
heads down and work. If we do that, relax, and play our game, we can pick up
points anywhere."
While New England (5-9-3) has a similar record to Houston, it has been showing
signs of snapping out of its season-long slump recently.
The Revs are currently on a three-game unbeaten stretch, with a 1-0 win vs.
D.C. United last weekend capping off the current run.
"Truth be told, we didn't play well, we didn't pass the ball well," New
England coach Steve Nicol said after the win. "But at the same time, the game
we had midweek [a 1-1 draw at Philadelphia], I think really took its toll on
us. We really didn't have much in the legs, and obviously with Kevin [Alston]
and Marko [Perovic] were missing. I think the biggest thing was we didn't have
any legs. And consequently, we didn't pass it well and we didn't play well,
but what we did do was we stuck at it and we got a goal."
New England will still be without a number of players due to injury, with
forwards Kheli Dube, Edgaras Jankauskas and Taylor Twellman all out, defender
Alston, forward Zak Boggs, and midfielders Nico Colaluca and Perovic
questionable.
Houston will be without starting goalkeeper Pat Onstad, defender Adrian
Serioux and midfielder Brad Davis. Defender Ryan Cochrane is also listed as
doubtful for the game.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.
Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.
"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."
Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl
NFL Super Bowl Betting
The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
