Webster's long-distance marksmanship propels Portland past Clippers

02/17/2010 -
Portland, OR (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Martell Webster made a career-high seven
three-pointers on his way to tying a career-best with 28 points, as the
Portland Trail Blazers handled the Los Angeles Clippers, 109-87, at the Rose
Garden.
The main story was the blockbuster trade that the teams made earlier in the
day on Tuesday. The Blazers, who have already lost centers Greg Oden and Joel
Pryzbilla for the season, acquired veteran pivot Marcus Camby from the
Clippers in exchange for injured forward Travis Outlaw, guard Steve Blake and
$3 million.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Blazers, who have
won two in a row following a two-game skid. Rudy Fernandez tallied 15 points
off the bench, while Andre Miller chipped in 10 points, 12 assists, and six
boards.
Guard Brandon Roy started the game after missing the previous 12 with a
hamstring injury. However, he had just four points through 15 minutes of court
time before his hamstring tightened up, forcing him to leave the tilt.
Eric Gordon finished with 20 points for the Clippers, who have dropped five
straight. Rasual Butler added 18 points, while DeAndre Jordan tallied 14
points and 11 rebounds off the bench in defeat.
The Clippers started the fourth on a 9-1 spurt to get within five. Bobby
Brown's jumper cut the gap to 79-74 with 8:48 to play. But the Blazers
responded with an impressive 25-6 flurry to seal the victory. Webster capped
the run with consecutive three-pointers to make it 104-80 with 1:49 remaining.
The Blazers ended the first quarter on an 8-3 spurt to take a 26-20 margin
into the second.
Portland then started the second on a 13-4 run to create some breathing room.
Dante Cunningham and Fernandez each tallied five points during the burst,
which Webster capped with a trey to make it 39-24 with 5 1/2 minutes
remaining. The score was 49-38 at the half.
The Blazers scored the first six points of the third to open up a 55-38 lead.
Webster's long jumper with less than 4 1/2 minutes left had Portland in front
69-48. The Blazers held a 78-65 margin after three periods.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
