Red-hot Raptors host reeling Grizzlies

Basketball Betting Lines

02/17/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Toronto Raptors have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference over the past few weeks and will kick off the second half of their season tonight versus the Memphis Grizzlies at Air Canada Centre.

Toronto has won the first three tests of a four-game homestand and is 12-5 over its last 17 games overall. It enters this evening's tilt with a chance to match the franchise record for most consecutive wins at home after making it eight straight victories up north with a 104-93 triumph over Philadelphia last Wednesday. All-Star Chris Bosh had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raptors, who haven't won nine in a row at home since February 23 - March 8, 2000. Since December 13 the Raptors are 14-1 on their home floor and tied a team record with 29 wins prior to the All-Star break.

Bosh made a game-winning free throw with five seconds remaining to help the Eastern Conference top the West at the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes. Bosh is averaging 28.0 points, 12.4 rebounds and shooting .573 from the field over the last five games.

Andrea Bargnani had 16 points in the recent win for Toronto, which has scored 100 or more points in a franchise-best 17 straight games and is 17-0 when holding opponents under the century mark this season. The Raptors are 20-6 at home, fifth in the Eastern Conference standings and 4 1/2 games behind Boston for the Atlantic Division lead. In injury news for the team, forward Hedo Turkoglu (personal) is probable for Wednesday's game.

Memphis has lost five straight games and suffered a 109-95 setback last night versus the Phoenix Suns at FedEx Forum. Rudy Gay registered 21 points and All- Star Zach Randolph contributed 18 points and 15 boards for Memphis, which has lost seven of eight overall after winning 15 of the previous 19 contests.

"It's tough to come back and get right in the swing of things," Gay said, referring to the first game after the All-Star break. "We got this one out of the way. Now we're ready to go out there and play hard."

O.J. Mayo and Sam Young each had 15 points in a losing effort, dropping the Grizzlies to .500 (26-26) on the season. The Grizz hope to snap a three-game road losing streak tonight and are 8-17 as the guest this season. One more road victory would give Memphis its most wins as the visitor since the team won a franchise-record tying 19 contests in 2005-06.

The Grizzlies are currently four games behind Portland for the final postseason spot in the Western Conference. They beat Toronto at home in late October at FedEx Forum and have won 10 of the past 14 meetings in the series.

Memphis is winless in its last three trips to Air Canada Centre.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.

Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.

Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.

Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com. FOOTBALL BETTING LINES

NFL Football Sports Betting

Two playoff teams from 2007 take center stage on the NFL Network Sunday night in a Week 2 NFL betting match-up when the (0-1) New England Patriots betting head south to Florida for a contest with the (1-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New England HC Bill Belichick couldn’t care less about the way his team plays in the preseason. With a chance to tie last week’s game with the Baltimore Ravens betting, He elected to go for the two-point conversion and outright victory. The conversion failed, and the Pats ended up falling to the Ravens by a 16-15 final count.

New England rolled off twelve unanswered points to give it a chance at securing the victory, but it never threatened to cover the 3.5-point spread. NFL bettors saw this one coming, as they bet the Ravens down from +6 to +3.5 as the week progressed. QB Tom Brady didn’t take part in the Patriots first preseason clash, but could see action this weekend.

His three replacements all put up embarrassing numbers. They went a combined 17 for 33, and threw three interceptions and no touchdowns. The New England defense was encouraging, as they held the Ravens to 2/12 third down conversions and surrendered just ten first downs. That ‘D’ should be bolstered with the addition of former Bucs and Denver Broncos betting safety John Lynch, who could make his Patriots debut on Sunday against his former mates.

HC Jon Gruden had to be impressed with the way his Bucs played on both sides of the ball in their dominating 17-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1’s NFL pre-season betting action. Bucs bettors were quite happy with the effort, as they made a mockery of the fact that they were underdogs in the game.

The logjam at the quarterback position didn’t get any easier to separate for Gruden, as all four of his QBs had positive experiences in the first exhibition of 2008. The four combined to complete 28 of their 40 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown, and that was without starting QB Jeff Garcia in the lineup.

RB Michael Bennett had 19 carries and four receptions, totaling 90 yards and a touchdown. Expect to see more of Bennett, Kenneth Darby, and Earnest Graham, as they all compete for playing time with Warrick Dunn in the backfield this season. Defensively, the Bucs recorded four sacks and held the Fins offense in check all day.

First round draft pick Aqib Talib was impressive in the secondary, recording a tackle and two pass defenses in his debut. Don’t be surprised to see Talib in the starting lineup opposite Ronde Barber for the Bucs in ’08.

The betting trends suggest that NFL bettors should be backing the Bucs in this intra-conference exhibition.

These two teams hooked up last year in Tampa Bay, with the Bucs winning that game 13-10. The Buccaneers have only lost one preseason game at home dating back to the beginning of the ’05 preseason. The Patriots have had a mixed bag of results in their recent exhibitions. They have gone 2-2 ATS and SU each of the last three years.

New England currently sits as modest 1-point favorites in this preseason showdown with the ‘total’ now sitting at 34.5.
