Roy, Blazers invade Phoenix for pivotal Game 5
Basketball Betting Lines
04/26/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - It wasn't quite Willis Reed limping out to the floor before
Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, but Brandon Roy's surprise return on Saturday
may have saved the Portland Trail Blazers' season.
Just eight days after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his
right knee, Roy suited up and gave the Blazers and the Rose Garden faithful
the emotional lift they needed after the club had lost the previous two games
in their Western Conference quarterfinals series with Phoenix by a combined 48
points.
The All-Star guard played nearly 27 minutes and scored five of his 10 points
in the final quarter for Portland, which pulled out the 96-87 victory to
deadlock the series at two games apiece.
Now, Roy and the Blazers hope to seize control of the set as it shifts back to
the desert for Game 5.
"The doctors said it was a pretty bad tear," Roy said of his injury. "The
minute the surgery was over and I woke up in the recovery room I said my knee
felt great. It has been feeling good all week, I've been working out and
preparing for a moment like this. I am happy I was able to help my team and
help these fans and we definitely have a Game 6 for sure now."
Amare Stoudemire logged 26 points and six boards in Game 4 for the Suns, who
connected on just 5-of-16 from the field in a 15-point fourth quarter.
Steve Nash logged 15 points and eight assists, while Jason Richardson, coming
off a 42-point effort in Game 3's 108-89 drubbing, scored 15 points on 6-of-16
shooting.
Grant Hill grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go with nine points on 3-of-10
shooting for the Suns, who failed to play their usual up-tempo style and shot
a miserable 6-of-23 from behind the arc
"There were never opportunities for us to attack in the open court," Suns
coach Alvin Gentry said. "We let their defense get set. Although Amare had a
big game, we weren't able to really take advantage of getting him the ball in
good situations. At the end of the day we basically played at their pace."
Roy said he felt no pain or swelling in his knee on Sunday, but indicated he
probably would come off the bench again tonight with Jerryd Bayless, who
scored 11 points and dished out six assists in Game 4, getting the start.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Batum, who scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds
in Game 4 despite a strained right shoulder, is also expected to play for the
Blazers and what is a virtual must win game for both sides.
"It's a big game, maybe the game of the year for us," Stoudemire said after
practice Sunday.
Game 6 in the series is set for Thursday back in Portland.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
